We work with clients at their pace to create wills, powers of attorney, and health care directives—a plan to set them at ease for their future.
CHARITABLE GIVING
We leverage our background in public service and nonprofits to help clients leave bequests through charitable remainder trusts or by naming a favored nonprofit as a beneficiary of particular assets.
When our clients desire it, we work with them to identify the best use of their legacy and, if necessary, reach out to the appropriate organization to coordinate our efforts.
ELDER LAW
When a loved one is no longer able to make decisions for himself or herself, we assist clients seeking guardianship. Guardianship is a method wherein the court appoints someone, such as an adult child, to make decisions and provide care for another person. We represent clients in all North Carolina counties seeking guardianship of the person, guardianship of the estate, and general guardianship.
HEALTH CARE
Whether married or not, have family nearby or not, you want someone you trust to make financial and health decisions for you when you are not able. We help clients give their chosen person that authority through powers of attorney, living wills, advance directives, and HIPAA authorization.
Estate planning for same-sex couples is a rapidly changing landscape of law, here in North Carolina and beyond. We assist same-sex couples who don't want to leave to chance the plans they make for their future care, and for the care of their spouses and loved ones.
PROBATE ADMINISTRATION
We assist estate executors and administrators through the process of probate so they can get back to doing what they do best in what is usually a very difficult time.
